Gloucester County is located in Virginia's Middle Peninsula in the Chesapeake Bay region. The county is bounded on the south by the York River, on the north by the Piankatank River and on the east by Mobjack Bay. With nearly 300 miles of shoreline, Gloucester County has a variety of water-related activities, marinas, boat ramps and a fishing pier.
Beaverdam Park in Gloucester offers freshwater fishing, miles of hiking and biking trails, paddlesports and camping. And the Gloucester Point Beach Park offers a sandy beach and swimming area.
Gloucester is famous for its daffodils, and every spring hosts the popular Daffodil Festival.
The Rosewell Ruins, the charred remains of America's grandest mansion is located here and is visited by architectural enthusiasts who appreciate the four chimneys and brickwork still standing. It is also the Birthplace of Walter Reed and can be toured by appointment.
